Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE) this morning said that the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has awarded the company a renewable natural gas (RNG) contract to fuel its fleet of transit buses. Per the deal, Clean Energy will provide LA Metro with its Redeem™ brand of RNG, a renewable vehicle fuel made entirely from 100% organic waste. The contract includes a one-year pilot in which the company will provide Redeem™ to one of Metro’s compressed natural gas stations, which are currently operated and maintained by Clean Energy. An additional option permits the company to provide Redeem™ to the entire fleet for four more years. “They have chosen an alternative that will make significant strides in cleaning up the air and reducing harmful air toxins and greenhouse gases at an affordable price,” Clean Energy VP and general manager Tyler Henn stated in the news release.
